Georgia's time on Casualty in a nutshell [September 2007 - present] :

Ruth first appeared on the show in Series 22 Episode 1 as one of the new F2 doctors, along with Toby De Silva [Matt Bardock]. She was a very capable doctor, clearly excelling in skills, knowledge and general ability over Toby. She entered the job with strict instructions to herself, no relationships, no friendships and to be the best doctor she could possibly be. Initially coping very well with the job and loving the work she'd been thrown into, her life began to go downhill as the job got too much for her. This is followed by a suicide attempt by hanging, in her bedroom [Series 22, Episode 24, 'Before a fall'].

Found by Abs Denham [James Redmond] and Toby she was rushed to the hospital where she was treated on a life support machine and then rehabilitated. She lived with Maggie Coldwell [Susan Cookson] for a short while.

Ruth entered into a relationship with Staff Nurse Jay Faldren [Ben Turner] but was initially unwillng to admit this to any of the members of the Holby City ED. Ruth realised she was pregnant with Jay's baby and decides to abort it before he could find out.

Ruth entered into a relationship with and later married Edward Thurlow [Stephen Billington] without realising that he was homosexual. Upon finding out his secret, with him not willing for it to be made public, she blackmails him into helping her with her career in exchange for her silence. Edward ends their relationship around Christmas time and a devastated Ruth's life begins to spiral again.

Ruth's mental state worsens and she attempts to carry out a cranial surgical procedure in the "on call" room of the hospital thinking only she will help the patient as others are keen to discharge her from the hospital without wheat she deems as the necessary treatment.

Ruth is sectioned [Series 25, Episode 21, 'Choose your illusion'] and begins rehabilitation..
